Gordon N. Browne

July 9, 1947October 28, 2020

Gordon Nevin Browne, 73, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away on October 28, 2020. He was born in Detroit, Michigan. Gordon worked his entire career in the computer industry, starting as a computer operator, becoming a programmer, and retiring as a systems architect.

Gordon was married for 36 wonderful years to his sweetheart Lynn Wollin. They enjoyed life together in Florida, and also their trips to Michigan, California, North and South Carolina, Canada, Alaska, and Europe. Growing up during the years of the early American space program, Gordon loved all things to do with space exploration and this was one of the reasons he enjoyed living in Florida and its proximity to the Kennedy Space Center. He and Lynn also enjoyed the many cats they raised over their years together; these beloved cats were their “family.”

He is survived by his wife Lynn, his younger brothers Richard (Barbara) and Kenneth (Nancy), his nieces Kirsten (Andy), Kelsey (Andrew), Stephanie (Alex), and his nephew Christopher (Amanda), as well as his grandnephews Ryan and Thomas and his grandniece Kate.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home-East Altamonte Chapel, 994 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32701. Contributions in his memory may be made to the World Wildlife Fund or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

I learned so much from Gordon over the years, many times in the middle of the night on one of those calls you never want to make. Thank you for always taking my calls. So much knowledge! Thank you so much for sharing it with us and making us work for the rest. RIP Gordon !

Gordon, a MISER legend! I met Gordon when I came to work at MIS in 1984 and remained in awe of his knowledge and expertise throughout the 27 years that I worked with him. Funny, kind, smart, and a great friend are only a few words to describe this wonderful man.

Rest In Peace, Gordon. You will never be forgotten. Much love to Lynn and family.

I worked with Gordon in the early years at Miser and we stayed friends all the years after. He was so smart and so willing to help when you needed it in the middle of the night and you thought your systems were hopelessly broken.

I think that Gordon made everyone he met his friend. I will always remember his laughter and gift of silliness and him wearing sandals with no socks in the middle of winter at a job site in NY. He was kind and fun and it makes me so sad that I won't see him again on this earth.

To Lynn and all his family, I offer my condolences. He was quite simply wonderful.

I was so sorry to hear of Gordon's passing. I'm his 2nd cousin from Birmingham, Alabama & have fond memories of "Gordon & Ricky" visiting us from time to time. A good many years ago, my hubby and I visited briefly with you when we were in the area of Altamont Springs.

Gordon was my friend and colleague at Burroughs and my neighbor in Goleta. I only knew Gordon briefly but that was long enough to know that he was a very very nice man. I believe everyone who worked with Gordon remembers him this same affectionate way. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

Gordon was a good friend of mine. I met him when I got a job in HR at Burroughs's in Goleta, CA. He was a very sweet guy, full of adventure and friendship. He gave me rides on his motorcycle up the foothills and over the mountain. He actually got my rid of my phobia for motorcycles! I was very sad when I learned that he had passed. I never met Lynn but I know you two had a good life in Florida. RIP Gordon. Condolences to Lynn and your family.

I and everyone else had so much respect for Gordon. He was a good friend and fun to be around. He was a legend in the Miser and Unisys world. He was a class guy and helpful to all that needed help, myself included. I shared a few cold ones over the years with Gordon and I still cherish those memories. My condolences to Lynn and the family.
