PLEASE BE AWARE THAT SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT OUR EAST ALTAMONTE CHAPEL LOCATED AT 994 EAST ALTAMONTE DRIVE, ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FLORIDA 32701.

My older brother Hector was a Vietnam War Vet. He was a paratrooper. He was proud of his service and yet suffered like many of his fellow soldiers from the legacy of PTSD and Agent Orange, but he kept 'marching on'.

He was always caring and helping others in spite of his inner pain. He was a model of true altruism. Always willing to step up to the plate for his fellow man/woman/child. He believed that 'standing for the flag' meant what the symbol implies: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men (Humanity) are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness".

When it came to service, he was there to help and not care about anyone's politics, race, religion or any other label. In today's world he 'stood for the flag' of Liberty, and a 'knee' for his service to others…

My brother, my fellow vet, my friend, my blood! You are now finally resting, but your legacy and love will continue to shine like that other 'single-star flag' that you always defended and stood for. You were born in a little paradise called Puerto Rico, but your heart belonged to the World. Till we meet again…

We know there are many who want to say their goodbyes and show their respect for Hector, unfortunately due to COVID-19, for the safety of all concerned, it breaks our hearts but we must restrict those coming to the funeral to only immediate family and close friends who are completely well to comply with the 50% (60 people) capacity mandated by the CDC. We got to know Hector over the years through my sister Alba Castrillon. We live in NY and always heard great things about her friend Hector. My niece and nephew always spoke highly of him as well. When we hung out with Hector he always had a smile on his face and welcomed us back to Florida. When I was looking for a good veterans hospital for my father in law Hector gave me advice on what hospitals to go to. Our last encounter we got to spend part of the super bowl with him and he made it fun. We will definitely miss seeing him and sad that everyone has lost a great family member and friend. To all his family please accept our condolences at this time. He will be missed and thought of often.

I have the privilege of knowing Junior all my life. He was the Bible bearer at my parents wedding. My mother used to say my “Bible boy”. He always had a great sense of humor and was kind to pesky little girls. I do remember being so excited that a grown up wrote me a letter and sent me their paratrooper picture from Vietnam.
After the war we didn’t see him as often but when we did he seem to be the same Junior.
Fast forward to 2-3 years ago. I would see Junior from time to time around the city. He was always the same Junior. The day of my mother’s funeral he share memories of her and even my father, who had already passed. It made me smile. I was so grateful he was there.
Now it is my turn to share my memories.
Rest now, your work here is done.
Until the trumpet sounds and those that rest in the Lord shall rise.

I got to know Hector as a business friend but more importantly a personal friend. I will never forget Hector’s kindness when I was doing my internship as a brand new Chiropractor, fresh out of school, at a clinic he also worked for. He encouraged me and immediately made me feel welcome. This was a beginning of a friendship that lasted close to 25 years! There will definitely be a void from his passing that cannot be filled. Angels are rejoicing in Heaven! God Bless

I knew Hector for almost 30 years as a friend, through business and as a fellow sports fan. As a friend he was always there for me. As a business acquaintance, he always put the injured people’s interest first, which I appreciated. As a sports fan, we commiserated about the Magic and Dolphins. Will miss his enthusiasm for life, his smile, his love for others and everything else. He was a special person. Will miss him dearly ...

I met Hector in 1995 when he worked for St Germain Chiropractic. Hector always had a smile. Even when he was gripping about something. I love you my friend. Until we meet again! Rest in peace!

Gracias por ser ese abuelo y bisabuelo extraordinario y unico. Aquel abuelo que con una sola llamada te alegraba el dia con sus gran carisma y payasada, si por que nunca falto un chiste. Siento una pena grande en mi corazón porque teniamos planes para reirnos pero asi es la vida. Hoy estamos aqui, pero mañana no sabemos.

Y aunque fisicamente no compartimos mucho, los momentos que pudimos estar juntos son inolvidable.

"Donde quiera que te encuentres quiero que sepas que te llevo en mi corazón y mente. "

Thank you for being that extraordinary and unique grandfather and great-grandfather. That grandfather who with a single call brightened your day with his great charisma and antics, if because I never missed a joke. I feel a great sorrow in my heart because we had plans to laugh but this is life. Today we are here, but tomorrow we don't know.

And although we don't physically share much, the moments we were able to be together are unforgettable.

My heart is heavy knowing that my wonderful cousin is not here with us. I will miss our constant texting and conversations sharing our news. You are now in a better place with God, but yet, all your time on earth will always be remembered.
