Hely was born in a beautiful town of Albay, Philippines at the foot of the famous perfect cone shaped volcano, called Mayon Volcano. She was the oldest of 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys. Her parents both deceased Benjamin Moran and Januaria Alejo Moran.
She is survived by 2 brothers and 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews. After finishing high school she went to Manila to study nursing at the University of the Philippines. After finishing her nursing, she was picked out to go to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas to study cancer nursing. After 2 years, she was supposed to go back to the Philippines instead she decided to go to Canada to see the snow. She started working at the Ottawa Hospital as an operating room nurse. There she met her future husband Dr. Pol Dalida, who was training as an anesthesiologist. They got married on June 17, 1967. From Ottawa they moved several times. Finally, they moved back to the United States in 1973. In 1976, they moved to Florida where they loved the weather and the friendly people.
Not long after Annunciation Church was built, she got involved in the church and many other organizations, Orange County Auxiliary, the Philippine Medical Auxiliary, etc. She got involved with the Charismatic Group, St. Therese Circle, then started the Carmelite Community and other prayer groups. A friend brought a replica of the sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary that helped saved the Philippines during the revolution in 1983, a bloodless revolution, through praying the Rosary in the streets of Manila. Up to this time she has this statue going to different homes every 2 weeks. This statue goes around for the whole year. She loved the Lord (Holy Trinity), the holy family, the Blessed Mother, and her angels, and all the Saints. St. Therese of the Little Flower is her guide all her life. St. Therese simple and little way of life. They are her biggest help especially in old age. She prays unceasingly for all her friends and people in their needs. She and her husband Pol gets up early every day to pray and to go to church to receive the Lord and again pray together before going to bed. They are one of a kind, a very good model for all of us. Thank you Lord.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 90 Weathersfield Avenue, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Annunciation Catholic Church 1020 Montgomery Rd, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
