Howard A. Gessler, 90, of Longwood, FL died Friday, June 30, 2017. He was born September 14, 1926 in Bronx, NY a son to the late Frederick and Clara Gessler of Valhalla, NY. He was a loving husband and father, an extensive traveler, and lived in Central Florida for 38 years. Howard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the service, he received his AA Degree in Electrical Engineering and worked for the New York Telephone Company (now Verizon) for 25 years. Howard was very active in his home owner's association of Jennifer Estates. He was also an active member of the German-American Club, VFW, and American Legion. Howard was preceded in passing by his wife of 61 years, Jo Ann Barbara Gessler (2011) and their son Thomas Richard Gessler (2009). He is survived by his children, Ruth Farnsworth (Steven) and Robert Gessler (Jenny), 5 grandchildren, Jason Gessler, Joann Engestrom (Lisa), Jill Gessler, Howard Gessler (Jessica), and Derrick Gessler; and 3 great-grandchildren, Michael, Amelia, and Vivian Gessler. A celebration of Howard's life will be held Friday, July 7 from 5-7pm at Baldwin Fairchild West Altamonte, 90 Weathersfield Avenue, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
