

Jackie passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, January 10, 2025. She was born to Clifford Harold and Roberta (Wilson) Potter in their family home in Manns Creek, outside Weiser, Idaho on March 19, 1940. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Dean and her husband, Charles “Chuck” Schmalmaack. She is survived by her brother Harold, sister Marilyn, daughter Cheryl Ciccone and husband Jim Reynolds, son Carl and wife Helen, son Charlie, son Eric and wife Sondra. Jackie is also survived by her grandchildren Gabrielle, Rhett and Macy, Savannah, Rachel and husband, Dallas, as well as great grandchildren Sophie and Marshall.
Jackie went to a one room school, followed by Weiser high school where she enjoyed a vibrant experience and an exceptional group of friends. She worked on the family ranch and later the family Drive-In. After high school, she moved to Boise to live with her sister Marilyn. It was there that Jackie met her husband who was in the Air Force, stationed at Mountain Home AFB. They fell in love and Jackie quickly followed Chuck to Atlanta where they were married in his childhood home in December of 1960. Jackie became a mother early in their marriage, welcoming children into their lives for another dozen plus years. She was a strong, faithful and loving mother, wife and friend throughout her life. Jackie was very active in her church singing in the choir. Jackie loved music and was a long-standing member of Sweet Adelines.
In the mid-sixties, Jackie and Chuck moved the family to Florida and opened up their own Dry-Cleaning business which flourished and grew to many locations before they retired. Having their own business allowed the couple the ability to spend time with the kids, enjoy many travels and numerous adventures. Jackie remained friends with her Idaho classmates, became close friends with neighbors, church members and dear friends in Sweet Adelines. She was loved by all.
Jackie was very active in her children’s lives and her grandchildren’s lives! She and Chuck attended sporting events, volunteered, travelled for special occasions, including, but not limited to horseback riding, swimming, snorkeling, boating, hiking, beach days, cruises, family road-trips, motorcycle trips with Chuck … the family even built a vacation home together in the North Carolina mountains.
Jackie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be held at Riverside Baptist Church at 7719 Forest City, Rd in Orlando, FL 32810 this Friday January 17, 2025 with visitation at 11:30 am, funeral service at 12:00 pm, and followed by lunch in the church social hall.
A graveside service will be held at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 am.
