Alex’s wedding. His cousin, Sarah West( in yellow dress), came to his wedding, April 3, 2011?? With her best, Kelsey Dawson( who took this pic of the Thompson cousins!)They drove from USF, Tampa to b here!

I always considered Jim a friend of mind. When I was around Jim he always had a smile on his face. He indeed did have a very positive attitude about life which is certainly a trait I enjoy being around people with a positive attitude. When Jim asked me to give him flying lessons for him to become a commercial pilot, I think we both enjoyed that time together. He was a good student because he had a good attitude, Yes, I will certainly miss Jim. I am glad I got to know Jim and he was part of my life! God Bless Jim and his family. MR. THOMPSON used to say: "if you are afraid of failing you will never be successful." Floor it!

To the Family of Jim Thompson, my sincere condolences on the passing of your loved one. I worked with Jim, and he was a wonderful friend and employer. I know the journey the family is undertaking today and the days to come will be difficult, but our God will comfort and keep you all in His care. My prayers are with you today!
Sincerely,
Viveca Hudson

Dear Mrs. Thompson, Jenny, Alex and family,

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Jimbo. I have such fond memories of time spent with him and your family during my college days in the US, especially Thanksgiving holidays in North Carolina, trips down to Orlando and a few hair-raising flights in his small planes from High Point down to your family home. Jimbo always had a smile on his face, eager to listen to your stories and give his input, adored his family and most notably, an infectious laugh! Whilst his time was cut short on this earth, he left a lasting impression on me and I imagine many people he met.

Thinking of you all during this very difficult time and sending love from South Africa.

My condolences.
Kyle

As one of his daughter's childhood friends, Jim was always Mr. Thompson to me. I honestly could not recall a specific conversation I had with him, but I can still remember how I felt around him in his and Kris's home. I always felt like he was glad I was there. He would have some wry comment or joke and a playful look in his eye when we wandered in. The Thompson family unit would be a little silly and a little sarcastic and ALWAYS cracking us up. I never felt that he was put out that his house was crawling with noisy kids and teenagers. Now, as a middle-aged mom myself, that is astonishing to me. There were precious few adults in my life that didn't take themselves too seriously with us kids, and just let us be who we were. Mr. Thompson always struck me as someone who was just exactly who he was, not morphing to fit the scene. I admire that. I am lucky to enjoy one part of his legacy, his brilliant, hilarious, fierce, and compassion daughter. I know his legacy runs deep and wide in his children and grandchildren. I am praying for you all as you walk this unplanned, long and cyclical journey of grief. I believe that Jesus is close to the hearts of those who are suffering, and I pray you can feel him in the dark places with you.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 07-17-11 has suffered a tragedy with the death of one of our dedicated members,
jim Thompson.
In life and in battle, suffering one loss is considered a victory but to our Flotilla, it is truly a hollow victory because Jim can never be replaced. After the shock, sadness has now set in. And to Jim's family and loved ones, we pray that your grieving will assuage your anguish with the passing of time. In moments of prayer and relection, let us always remember Jim. It it was a pleasure to have you in our lives albeit for such a short time. You will be terrible missed, but your spirit will exist forever in our minds and in the cosmos.

 With deepest sorrow,

Robert Long
