Jason Benjamin Josaphat was known for his memorable gleaming smile. But he was more than just a smile. He was a son, brother, scholar, a friend and much more with a promising future ahead when he was taken from us. On June 12th, 2016 Jason Josaphat died at the Pulse night club mass shooting. He was trapped in the bathroom and was killed with 48 other victims. Jason Benjamin Josaphat was born on August 20th, 1995 in Fort Lauderdale Florida, the son of Jackson Josaphat and Myrlande Bebe of Florida. The oldest son of four children, he lived with his Mother, younger siblings Jamal, Justin, and Myreanna.
He attended Pine Hills preschool in Florida then moved to AZ where he graduated from Skyline High School in 2014. During his last two years of high school, Jason was also enrolled at the East Valley Institute Technology where he obtained a certificate of completion for 3D Animation and Photography. Jason attended Southern Technical Institute and graduated with his Associate’s degree in Accounting and Business.
Throughout his adolescent years, Jason was very active in church, where he participated in children ministry, church plays, bible studies. In elementary school Jason was part of the school band where he played the trombone. During junior high and high school, Jason was involved in numerous sports such as gymnastic, cheerleading, hip-hop dance club, track and field, wrestling and football . In addition to being active and productive in numerous activities, Jason maintained a high GPA of 4.0 and made the Dean’s List and was recognized for his academic achievements.
Jason Benjamin Josaphat is survived by his parents Jackson and Myrlande of Florida. His brothers and sister, Jamal, Justin, and Myreanna. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother Sonia Desile. Aunts and uncles such as Jimmy and Myrleine Inelus, who were like second parents to him. Jason enjoyed vacationing with uncle Harry and Lisa Eloi, auntie Darlene, Gilda Bébé, Daphney Josaphat, uncle Lendon and Antoine provided constant guidance. We will miss him immensely. Jason also left behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will sorely miss him. Too many aunts and uncles to name but Jason was loved by many and his life was taken away much too soon and we will miss his spirit, his infectious smile and most of all we will miss *HIM.*
