

GULDE, CHARLES JAMES “ Jim”, 82, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014. He was born on July 31, 1932 in Amarillo by Philipina Lutz Gulde and John Fidelis Gulde.
Jim attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and then graduated from Price College in Amarillo, TX. He went on to receive his BS from Notre Dame in 1955 and his MBA from West Texas State University in 1978. He served seven years in the Navy and Reserves. He joined his father and brother in Crowe Gulde Inc. in Amarillo, Texas. His contributions to the concrete masonry industry is voluminous. He served as CEO of a multi-disciplined construction business which included manufacturing of concrete masonry with emphasis on Architectural Units, Operation of eight ready mix plants, Prestress and Precast Concrete operations including double T’s and single T’s, and highway bridge beams. He served as past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Concrete Masonry Association. He was a past director of the Masonry Society. He was active on various committees of ACI, ASTM, CSI, NCMA and other industry groups. He was a certified Consultant of Concrete Masonry (CCCM), and a Construction Document Technologist (CDT). He served as director of the Florida Concrete and Products Association’s Masonry Certification Program. He worked as a consultant in the concrete industry for the state of Florida.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Ernst Gulde. Survivors include: Theresa Marie Newton, DO, of Knox City MO, James Ernst Gulde, MD, of Paris, TX; Lisa Ann Stobb, BME, of Grand Prairie, TX, Christopher Gerard Gulde, MD, of San Antonio, TX; Anthony John Gulde, DDS, of Orlando, FL; Curt Joseph Gulde, MBA, of College Station, TX; and John Fidelis Gulde, PharmD, of Amarillo, TX. He lives on in the memories of his seven children and 28 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Gulde of Amarillo, TX and survived by two sisters and two brothers: Elizabeth Nussbaum, Margaret Rettenmaier, and Robert Gulde, of Amarillo, TX, and Larry Gulde of Memphis, TN.
Since 1990, he was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church of Altamonte Springs, Fl. He served as Sacristan and Extraordinary Minister of Communion. He attended Mass daily at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
A visitation will be held at Balwin-Fairchild East Altamonte, FL on December 1, 2014 from 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, FL on December 2, 2014 at 12:00 pm.
