John Herman Helms, of Zellwood, FL, passed on May 30, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on October 11, 1937 in New York City, NY. John went into the United States Navy in 1955. He was married to Carolyn Helms on November 27, 1966. John had a career in electrical services for 20 years for Con Edison. He was an owner of a cabinet shop, then later owned Sheffield Plating Co. which did plating in gold and silver. He had a passion for golf, being a handyman, and was always the life of the party.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Helms; sons, John Lewis Helms and Erik Joseph Helms; grandchildren, Alison Helms and John Harold Helms; sister, Anita Swartz; and nephews, Christopher Swartz and Brian Swartz.
A Celebration of Life for John will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Baldwin Fairchild East Altamonte (994 E Altamonte Dr, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A service with military honors will begin at 6:00 pm.
