Julie Jeanine Shea

On Saturday, September 21,2019 Julie Jeanine Shea, beloved wife and mother of four passed away. Julie, the daughter of Lyle G. and Wava J. (Peterson) Petersen, was born February 20, 1952, in Harlan, Iowa. Julie lived with her parents and sister Jeri in the small village of Jacksonville, IA, were she was a member of the last Kindergarten class to begin her education in the one-room Jackson #5 School in 1957.

In 1964 the family moved to the Peterson family farm near Elk Horn, IA. Julie graduated from the Elk Horn-Kimballton School in 1970, then attended Union College in Lincoln, NE, before moving to Florida in 1975, following her marriage to Gaylen Reddick. Their brief union brought forth a beautiful baby boy named Robin Lee Reddick (1980-1982), who Julie just loved and adored more than anything. In 1982 she graduated from Brevard Comm. College as a biomedical equipment technician and worked for Florida Adventist Hospital. There at the Hospital she met the man who became the love of her life in an elevator, James K. Shea MD. They married on June 18, 1989 and stayed together until her passing.

Jim began a private practice, and Julie took great pride in assisting her husband in making it the practice it is today. They were a team in the office and Julie thoroughly enjoyed her work and the ability to work with her love every day. Shortly after their marriage they welcomed a son into the world named Michael, and two years later they welcomed twin daughters named Danielle and Sheridan.

Julie was a joyful person who cherished her Lord, her pets, and her children. She had a close relationship with God and accepted Jesus as her savior. One of her greatest pleasures was watching her dogs run around and play together in the yard. Her smile was infectious. When she smiled, the whole room would light up. When she thought no one was listening she would sing to herself in the kitchen. She was a beautiful soul.

Preceding Julie in death was her son from her previous marriage, Robin Lee Reddick, her in-laws, Mervil and Ruby Shea; grandparents, Gerhart and Grace Petersen and Bennie and Josie Peterson; and an infant niece, Tara Herrera.

Surviving Julie are her parents of Elk Horn, Iowa; husband James of Longwood; son, Michael Shea, Longwood; daughter, Danielle Shea, Longwood; and daughter, Sheridan Shea and her fiancé, Chad DeLong, both of Apopka; sister, Jeri and her husband, Manuel Herrera of Lincoln, NE; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Julie loved her family, her work, and her dogs. She did as the good Lord explained in the Gospel of Matthew, building up treasures in heaven by giving of herself to others. The family will miss her immensely but have comfort in knowing that she was ready when God called her to her final rest.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 3 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home located at 90 Weathersfield Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. There will be a viewing beforehand on Saturday 28, 2019 from 4 pm to 7 pm and then again before the service at 1:30 pm.

I just watched the video tribute to Julie and it said it all ,family, and how much she was loved. My name is Rick Petersen, Julie and I are 1st cousins and were born just days apart. We went to the same 1 room school in Jacksonville Iowa . We would play every day after school or anytime we could. When Julie and her family moved to another school district I missed seeing her. We would see each other occasionally through out our school years. After Graduation Julie went to Florida and I went to Savannah Ga thanks to the Army. Julie and I reconnected during this time . She would drive up from Merritt island or I would drive down. She had her baby Robin during these years. God some times is hard to understand but we walk in faith. Years later in 1992 I was stationed (Army) in Orlando and actually spent many days and nights at Julie and Jim's home. They treated me very well and will always remember those days. Sorry I never got to see Cousin Julie more. My wife Deana and I have had special times while in Florida with Jim and Julie. She was proud of her husband her kids and the business Jim and her worked so hard to build. You are missed Julie, we will all walk in faith and remember. Rick

We have known Julie since her arrival in Cocoa in 1975. We were friends with Julie and Galen through through Robin's birth (which coincided with adoption of our daughter Carissa) and throughout his life, and have loved Julie ever since. After Julie moved to Orlando and met Jim, we rejoiced with their new life together. Carissa babysat for Michael and the twins on several occasions, and we enjoyed watching them grow up. With the busy lives we all lead, our visits became less frequent, but we continue to hold the whole family in our hearts. We will truly miss Julie!
