Marc was born on March 15, 1949 in Manhattan, NY, and grew up in the Bronx. He graduated from Evander Childs High School and after spending three years towards a marketing degree, he enrolled in New York City Technical College where he received his Opticianry Associates Degree. He moved to Florida in 1977 where he met his wife Catherine, to whom he has been married for 44 years.
Marc is preceded in death by his parents Jacob Schlein and Esther Licht Schlein, and a brother
Gary Howard Schlein.
Marc is survived by his wife Catherine Varnum Schlein, one son Alex Schlein, two daughters,
Kim Schlein and Lisa Schlein Smith, son in law Timothy Smith, and four grandchildren,
Lucy, Molly, Alice and Ella Smith.
He is survived by two brothers, David Schlein and his wife Susan, Stuart Schlein and his wife Sylvia,
and sister in law Debbie Schlein, wife of his late brother Gary. He is also survived by two nephews and
three nieces and their families.
Marc was an avid football fan. He loved music, especially the classic rock from the 60' and 70's. He loved to cook and enjoyed good food. He was interested in all kinds of cars and enjoyed reading about what was new. He believed that one day we would have flying cars.
Marc had an amazing work ethic and encouraged others to work just as hard, and to do their best at every task. He was generous and had a unique sense of humor. He loved to laugh and always enjoyed the humor he could find in almost any situation.
Marc is well loved and will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be planned around his birthday in 2024.
