Mary Helen Armstrong, age 87, of Casselberry passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Born and raised in central Florida, Mary was elected May Queen as a girl and was known by all to be compassionate and wise. She raised her younger sisters, her own children, and her grandchildren. She was a dedicated nurse for over 50 years and went on to tutor new nurses into her 80s. A church-goer and singer in the choir, Mary was a prayer warrior who studied the Bible and led with gentleness and humor. She gave the minister a hard time during his final prayer with her, and she was joking and sharing laughter with us until the end. She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa, her wonderful sisters Rose and Suzy, her grandchildren, Crystel, Christopher, Emily, and Faith, and many more who adored her. She will be particularly missed by her great-grandson Tanner, who knows that his grandmother is with him always. In the words of Mary, "The thing about it is, I'm ready to go home." Her favorite hymn was "I'll Fly Away", and now she has, to "a land where joys will never end", and we miss her dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February the 4th at 1:00 at The Foundry Church, 1491 E. State Road 434, Winter Springs, FL 33708, 407-366-7714
