Mary was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 16, 1924 and grew up in Johnston City, Illinois. After graduating high school, she began college at Southern Illinois University before relocating to Miami to marry her husband, John, in 1945. She graduated from the University of Miami and taught elementary school for many years.
Mary and John were long time members of University Baptist Church in Coral Gables, FL before relocating to central Florida in 1990. She and John became members at Church on the Drive, Orlando where she sung in the choir and served as a Sunday teacher. Both church families were a source of wonderful friendships that lasted many, many years.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gast (David) and her grandchildren: Leslie N. Krummick (Jeff), John Gast (Bekah) and great grandchildren: Carson Krummick, Mary Gast, and Colton Krummick.
There will be a private family celebration of her life and she will be laid to rest next to her husband, John.
