Old friend Nic - I was taken aback to learn of your passing. Where to begin... Even though we’d lost touch in recent years, you hadn’t escaped my mind. My thoughts and prayers with you and the family. Until we meet again...

I have literally thought for weeks about exactly what I'd write. I've known Nic for years, though we've been distant for many. He and Lauren make up a very memorable part of my life in my late childhood into my early adulthood. I met Nic through Lauren. They both had a kind heart and were full of joy. I would often talk to Nicholas out in front of the Detrio’s house about deep things. The most memorable for me was a conversation about the wisdom of Proverbs in scripture and how we should apply them to our lives. He was a very sincere and direct person.
He was extravagant! If it wasn’t skitching off the back of a car on a skateboard while Lauren and I watched hoping he didn’t hurt himself, he was collecting snakes. I’m sorry to have to say goodbye for now but he’ll always be remembered. I will see you and your sister in heaven soon!

Nic, not a day passes that I don’t think of you. Your smile, your laugh, your enthusiasm in every story told. What a talented man. You were truly great at everything you picked up. You were a bright light, in a dim room. Always there to put a smile on everyone’s face. Saying this past week or so has been tough, is an understatement. I still find myself at a loss for words. Nothing can express the pain and remorse we ALL feel, in losing you. My prayers are consistently with you, your loving family, and our peers. It was a pleasure being in your presence here, with what was cut all too short. I love and miss you bud, with every piece of me.

Joe & Kim: Our deepest condolences for the loss of Nicholas. We have fond memories of the times our families got together when the kids were young. Our kids loved it when Nicholas brought his snake to visit. We love you both and are thinking of you. Much love, Bill & Beverly Romine

Dear Kim and Joe,
I can't believe the years have flown by and Nicholas had grown into such a handsome young man. It has been a very long time since I had him in my Bible class, but he was always a delight! I remember when he had to rewrite the 23rd Psalm to relate it to his life and it was all about skate boarding! I had to laugh because he truly understood what it was all about and certainly related it to his life as a young boy. My heart aches for the two of you, but Bill and I will keep you both in our prayers. Nicholas is with our Abba Father and he is having a ball experiencing heaven! God bless you both,
Love,
Bill and Kathy Stear

Aunt Kim & Uncle Joe,
My favorites memories of Nic are all happy thoughts. Laughter and smiling between 5 silly cousins, sneaking around and climbing trees, or playing tag around grandma and grandpas house all while searching for lizards. Nic will always hold a fond spot in my heart.
Love always,
Andrea and Ryan Beebe

Nicholas Detrio was my great nephew. Whenever we would go to Florida for a visit we would stay at his house. He would bring out "Glo-Stick", his 8' ball python. Glo-Stick is a nice snake and Nic would drape her around my shoulders and take my picture. This would upset my sister Barbara to the point where she would threaten to make me WALK back to Ohio. This was a kind of fun thing for us to do; but it really creeped my sister out. Nicholas would also ride bikes around the neighborhood with us. We will really miss Nicholas; but the good news is he is in the safe place now. He has been reunited in Heaven with his sister, Lauren and all his loved ones who have gone on before. It's a glad reunion day. Nicholas will love Heaven. There are no more tears, sorrow or pain in Heaven. So Long, Nic, we will see you again someday.
Aunt Janet
