I often think about what a significant influence Dr. Wehr was for me; I was lucky to be one of his students in the early 1970's.  Best wishes to Sally and the rest of his family. David.

I was a student of Dr. Wehr at UCF. I teach high school and I frequently quote him in class. He was a wonderful teacher and I honestly believe he could make reading a menu sound interesting. I was truly blessed to have him as a professor.

Paul was my cousin on my Mother's side of the family.  To me he was the glue of the family who held us together with his humor and his enjoyment for life.

As 5 year old I remember his entrance into my life.  We were living in a rural parsonage in south central Illinois.  One summer Saturday morning my brother Ron came running into our house and exclaimed, "I think Paul Wehr just drove by the house and parked behind the church!"

So we all looked out the window and sure enough, Paul was walking towards the house wearing a disguise.  It was a false pair of glasses that had a large rubber nose along with a bushey mustache and eyebrows.  He obviously wanted to surprise us.

We all  (6 of us) went to the front door and waited for the knock. When he knocked, my Dad  quickly opened the door and we  all exclaimed, "Hi, Paul!".  He stood there stunned and then began to laugh.   That laugh has left me with memories of my cousin that has brought many memories and days of enjoyment.

I am sure I will  hear that laugh again as Paul shares a joyful life with his Lord.

I married into Paul's family on Sally's side (Clouse) six years ago. I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Paul during the times Jim and I visited he and Sally in Florida. Discussions with Paul were always lively, thought provoking, and a heck of a lot of fun. Paul is one sharp cookie. The thing that stuck with me the most, though, was his love of the Lord. He will certainly be missed here on earth. I look forward to seeing him on the other side in Heaven someday. Sally and family are in my heart and prayers

I was lucky enough to have been a student in 5 of Dr. Wehr's classes at UCF. He was an amazing professor and prepared me well for law school. He played golf with me and other students several times. He always won at table tennis (we had a table at UCF). We were colleagues at UCF after I was hired to teach in the Legal Studies program in 1978. We were on the UCF professors doubles tennis team during the 1980's; we played out of Red Bug Lake Park. The tennis coach and his son were the No. 1 team (of course), but Paul was on the No. 2 or 3 and we often played together. He was always a lot of fun in whatever he did. We kept up with each other; the last time we spoke was in March 2020. He was an unforgettable professor and friend. David.

Dr Paul Wehr was my neighbor when I was growing up in Maitland and he sometimes gave me rides to UCF.  I remember he provided some valuable info on one of my UCF professors. 

One day on the way home from UCF, I complained to Dr Wehr about my day, about a History professor who had been unreasonable on the day of final exams. His friend returned our papers giving most of us low grades (I was shocked to get a D on a book review. I'd chosen a thick book to review and proudly turned my paper in thinking it was ambitious and done well.) A lot of students were upset that day about the grades he gave them. As he tossed the papers on our desks he said, "If you don't know how to write yet, you have no business being in college!" 

My eyes were blinded with tears of shame and my mind was clouded in anger, making it difficult to read or understand the essay questions. Then I remembered that other UCF professors praised my writing skills. And I thought how unfair it was to unload on us right before taking an essay exam. 
I didn't finish half the exam before turning it in. I realized the D on my report plus the F I'd receive on this final exam meant I wouldn't pass his class. I figured I'd have to take a different history class in order to fulfill this graduation requirement. This would mean going to school another semester and delaying plans to move closer to where my boyfriend lived. I was so mad I didn't care. 

I didn't get into all the specifics with Dr Wehr, but I told him enough for him to explain that the professor was his friend and was probably acting this way because he was going through a divorce. When I heard this I felt sorry for the man and I was resigned to my fate. Darned if I didn't get a B in that class.
