Ralph was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 10, 1939, to Rocco and Tina (Maggio) Ameduri. He married Margaret Montelione in 1962. He later met Linda at "Parents Without Partners" and they married shortly after. They were married for almost 30 years before we lost her to complications with being diabetic. He cared for her for many years without any complaints. In 2011, Ralph lost his only son and namesake to a “thug” trying to rob him and a group of friends while on a break performing. In 2014, Ralph married his current wife Eleanor, who was with him when he passed. One of the reasons he said he loved about Eleanor was that she was strong minded and after being the caregiver to so many, he enjoyed someone taking care of him, which she did right up until the end.
In 1963, Ralph began his career with the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. Tired of living the unofficial motto of “neither snow nor rain nor heat…in 1972, he moved his family of 4 to Altamonte Springs, FL where he raised 2 amazing kids.
Growing up, Ralph preferred to hang out with friends and he loved to dance (which he made an appearance on American Bandstand). He grew up surrounded by lots of family. His Mom had many brothers and sisters and he was so close to his cousins. His Uncle Artie was the youngest of the siblings and was more like another brother than he was uncle. Uncle Leo also fit that description. Sadly they both have passed too.
Ralph loved to go fishing. When we were kids, he had a little boat he would take us out on and fish. Every summer when his brother and family spent a month in New Smyrna Beach, they would fish in the surf for hours. That only stopped when his brother passed a few years ago and he lost his forever fishing buddy.
Ralph was a member of The Knights of Columbus, NALC and the Italian American Club.
Anytime someone mentioned Ralph, they would say how kind he is and how much his family meant to him. He loved his family and would do anything for us. Nothing was more important to him than the 3 F’s: Family, Friends and Fishing.
He didn’t believe in holding a grudge and always wanted to fix anything that was upsetting to his loved ones. When he wasn’t able to “fix” or make it right he would say it’s in God’s hands now.
Ralph is preceded in death by Margaret (spouse) and Linda (spouse), Ralph J. Ameduri Jr (son) Rocco and Tina Ameduri (parents) and Vincent (Carmela) Ameduri (brother).
