Ray was born on May 8, 1921 in Waverly, New York to Frederick Ray Green and Florence Green (Mulligan).
He graduated from Auburn High School and studied civil engineering for two years at Syracuse University prior to enlisting in the United States Army in 1942. A World War II veteran, Ray served for three years, including deployments in New Guinea, the Ryukus Islands, and the Philippines.
On January 19, 1946, Ray married Mary Jane Herron. Together, they raised five loving children.
Ray continued his education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Cornell University, an MBA from Rollins College, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Central Florida.
After he and his wife settled in Maitland in 1964, Ray built a rewarding career in engineering. A significant part of his professional life was spent at Lockheed Martin, and he retired in 1986.
Ray and Mary enjoyed traveling together and cherished the time spent with their extended family. Both were active members of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Altamonte Springs, where they made lifelong friends. Ray will be remembered as a patient, kind and loving husband, father, friend and colleague.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Mary; daughter-in-law Leslie of St. Cloud, FL, her daughter Stefanie and son Raymond and his wife Chrissy; son Brian and wife Elizabeth of Helena, MT, and their daughters Anna, Rachael and Kimberly; daughter Nancy, also of Helena, MT, and her son Jonathan and his wife Kristin; daughter Janice and husband Robert of Ventura, CA and their daughters Kelly, Mary Beth and Marena; daughter JoAnne and husband Jim of Roswell, GA; his great-grandchildren, and his nieces and nephew. Ray was predeceased by his son, Raymond, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 706 Spring Lake Rd., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. The family will receive friends at 10:15am. Reception for family and friends will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made “In Memory of Raymond F. Green” to St. Mary Magdalen Church Outreach Ministry.
