HARTMAN, Raymond Raymond Graham Hartman, Capt., USN, Retired, 94, of Longwood, FL passed away on November 30, 2014. Ray was born on October 25, 1920, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Andrew Raymond Hartman and Elizabeth Graham Hartman. He graduated from West Chester State College in 1942 with a BS in Education. Ray then enlisted in the Navy and graduated from OCS as an Ensign. On December 4, 1942 he married the love of his life, Barbara Tucker, and they embarked on a fabulous journey travelling the world that lasted 68 years. During that time he served in WWII and the Korean War, had various duty stations: CO, USS Oak Hill LSD-51; CO, USS Arneb LKA-56; Commander, Amphibious Squadron Six; Bureau of Personnel;and the Office of CNO. Ray received a Masters of Arts, Education in 1965 from George Washington University. Upon retiring as a Captain after serving 31 yrs., he and Barbara headed for Florida in 1973, first residing in Ormond Beach and then Longwood. Ray served as an Examination Development Specialist for the FL Dept. of Professional Regulation, Real Estate Div. for 10 yrs and then continued consulting until 2002 at the age of 81. He was an avid golfer and a member of Rolling Hills Golf Club. He assisted Barbara with chairing the volunteer scorers for the Bay Hill Classic and Walt Disney Golf tournaments. Ray was an extraordinarily kind, funny, generous man who will be missed by family and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Tucker Hartman and son, Raymond William Hartman. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Naomi Kuziemski of Cheltenham, PA, and his daughter, Patricia A. Hartman, of Longwood, FL. Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014, at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Chapel, 994 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, FL. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 875 N.
