Robert (Bob) A. Sloboda, 87 of Altamonte Springs, Florida passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 after a battle with Mesothelioma and heart disease.

Bob was born December 17, 1931 in Queens NY, the second of two children born to Robert and Helen Sloboda. Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service, he became a machinist/engineer/supervisor with the United States Navy at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Barbara Sloboda on June 25, 1955. He moved his family to Altamonte Springs in 1967 when he transferred to the Orlando Navy Training Center. After 41 years of service he retired to spend time with family and friends doing the things that he loved.

Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy, his son, Robert H. Sloboda and his wife Jean of Englewood, Florida, his daughter, Patricia (Patty) H. Dalton and her husband Gary of Orlando, Florida and the other love of his life, granddaughter Molly Rose.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Pop Pop, friend and a great neighbor. There was nothing he could not fix. And he was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, cooking, hiking in North Carolina, collecting many trophies and medals for all the walking races he participated in but his favorite pastime was spending time hugging Molly Rose.

When I bought my first home, I received an azalea from Mr. and Mrs. Sloboda. It is still thriving and blooming, and will be a reminder of a special man and his family

I just remember when Mr. and Mrs. Sloboda would go on their daily walk they would always come to visit my Mom Sarah Wilmoth. Mr. Sloboda would always have his American flag shirt and hat on and the first words that would come out of his mouth was comical because he always wanted to make you smile. here is a poem I wrote for my mother after she passed, just edited for your Dad.

A MEMORY

A death in the family leaves a void that can never be filled.
No one can ever take the place of your father and no-one ever will. His memory will live on in all of us and there will not be a day that goes by, where a memory of him will fly through your mind. Every morning you’ll wake and for years to come,
Your first thought will be of him and all he has done.

Then years will pass and sadness subsides,
But you’ll have those days where all you want to do is cry.

It’s easy to say remember the good times when you rather have them here and the way that I see it he’s in heaven with my father, and mother and his family and his Corona beer. Having another time of her life with his family up there, and we’re the ones that have to grieve for losing a father like yours so near and dear to all of our hearts.

Dad I will miss you forever and will always remember
the love that you showed me, the strength that you gave me,
love unconditionally and the sweet ways that you taught me.

Missing you everyday for the rest of my life daddy,
your wife Boo, Boo, daughter Patty and son Robert.
We LOVE YOU FOREVER DAD
