Bob was born December 17, 1931 in Queens NY, the second of two children born to Robert and Helen Sloboda. Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service, he became a machinist/engineer/supervisor with the United States Navy at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Barbara Sloboda on June 25, 1955. He moved his family to Altamonte Springs in 1967 when he transferred to the Orlando Navy Training Center. After 41 years of service he retired to spend time with family and friends doing the things that he loved.
Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy, his son, Robert H. Sloboda and his wife Jean of Englewood, Florida, his daughter, Patricia (Patty) H. Dalton and her husband Gary of Orlando, Florida and the other love of his life, granddaughter Molly Rose.
Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Pop Pop, friend and a great neighbor. There was nothing he could not fix. And he was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, cooking, hiking in North Carolina, collecting many trophies and medals for all the walking races he participated in but his favorite pastime was spending time hugging Molly Rose.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home at 994 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, Fl 32701 on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 5:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at his home directly after the Service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Heartland Horses Equine Activities and Learning, inc in Avon Park, a 501c charitable organization, where his beloved Molly receives therapy riding horses for strength and conditioning. Their address is 4305 Independence Street, Avon Park, FL 33825
