Ron faithfully served his country for 22 years in the US Air Force from 1959-1981, was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the National Security Agency (NSA), also known as “No Such Agency”. After his retirement from the Air Force the family moved to Florida where he worked for Martin Marietta Aerospace (now Lockheed Martin) for 26 years as Chief of Procurement in their Electronics, Missiles and Fire Control Division.
While in the military during his free time he loved playing volleyball and baseball as well as coaching volleyball and softball. After the military he enjoyed playing racquetball, was an avid photographer, world traveler and member/supporter of several veteran’s organizations. One of these closest to his heart was participating in Honor Flights that flew veterans to Washington, DC to visit the many memorials including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He participated in 13 flights, serving as the official photographer.
He was a very dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He sometimes had a tough, no nonsense outer shell but once you got to know him he shared his warm, kind and gentle side with a splash of mischief we all loved. He was blessed to have enjoyed a long, adventurous life and he will be truly missed.
