Sabina was born on May 12, 1932, in Fargo, North Dakota. Sabina’s musical journey began early. As a child, she performed regularly on the radio and in local venues throughout rural North Dakota, captivating audiences with her violin even as a young girl.
Her talent and dedication led her to earn a Fulbright scholarship, which took her to the Paris Conservatory of Music. On her journey to Paris, she met fellow Fulbright scholar Charles Micarelli, who would become her husband. Charles went on to hold a number of administrative and teaching positions at the University of Central Florida, and his work at the University brought him and Sabina to Central Florida. Charles passed away in 2013.
Sabina dedicated her life to both performance and teaching. She taught violin to aspiring musicians at the University of Central Florida and at Rollins College, and she also nurtured many private students over the years. A gifted performer to the end, Sabina continued to share her gift through chamber music performances well into her later years.
Sabina is survived by her two sons, Carl and John Micarelli, and by her brother, Henry "Hank" Godfredson Jr. She will be remembered not only for her exceptional musicianship but also for her unwavering devotion to her family, her colleagues and her students.
