Shannon Rodgers

Shannon Rodgers, age 83, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on August 4, 2026. He was born on October 28, 1942, in Freer, Texas, and lived a life marked by service, steady devotion to family, and genuine interest in the people around him.

Shannon served 23 years in the United States Navy, retiring at the rank of AE1 (Aviation Electrician’s Mate First Class). A Vietnam Veteran, he served aboard several aircraft carriers as an aviation electrician, flew with the Hurricane Hunters, worked in Navy recruitment, and served as a company commander. After his military career, he retired from the United States Postal Service. He also earned an Associate of Science degree from Regents College.

On April 16, 1983, Shannon married Lillian, who remained the center of his life for more than four decades. He took great care of his family and friends and was known for his faithfulness and reliability. Shannon enjoyed meeting new people wherever he went and built a wide circle of friends and acquaintances through simple conversation and everyday kindness. He liked socializing with friends, helping his neighbors, and was widely regarded as a good man. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park; of Pine Castle Lodge No. 368, F&AM; and of The Scottish Rite in Fort Worth, Texas.

Shannon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lillian Rodgers; his sons, Edward Rodgers and his wife Vonda, and Mike Rodgers and his wife Trish; eight grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Anne Albrecht; his sisters, Nina, Charlotte, and Brenda; and his sister-in-law, Donna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph H. Rodgers and Molly M. Rodgers, and his brother, Bobby.
