

Savina ‘Sylvia’ Micalizio, 95, of Maitland, FL passed away July 26, 2023. Born to the late Francesco & Giuseppina Pomata from CarloForte, Sardinia, Italy. Sylvia spent her childhood in Italy and her family immigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, NY.
Graduated from The University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later worked with her late husband Gene in the family’s insurance agency. She enjoyed all things Italian, including New York City, Broadway, art, cooking, sewing, museums, gardening, antiques, bargain shopping, baking, and especially spending time with her 3 grandchildren. Preceded in passing by husband, Gene Micalizio, sisters, Anna Nemeth, Antoinette Pomata, brother Nicolas Pomata, nephew Emmanuel Pomata. Survived by son, Robert Micalizio (Susanne); daughter, Gina Micalizio (John Boik); granddaughters, Lauren and Nicole Micalizio and Daniella Boik; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation and prayer service, Saturday, July 29th from 3-5pm, Baldwin Fairchild East Altamonte, 994 E Altamonte Dr., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Sylvia Micalizio to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Inurnment will take place in St. Charles Resurrection Cemeteries, 2015 Wellington Avenue, Farmingdale, New York at a later date.
