She was born in Roi-et, Thailand Oct. 20, 1950 the daughter of the late Ai and Sa Ouksigh Umkar. She married S/SGT William Mitchell, March 9, 1970 in Korat, Thailand and moved to the United States in May of 1972 by way of Anchorage, Alaska. Tan moved to many places with William on Air Force assignments; some being Ubon RTAFB in Thailand, Wurtsmith AFB, Oscoda, Mich., Clark AFB, Philippines and Offutt AFB, Omaha, Nebraska before his retirement from the Air Force in 1982. Her final move was to Sanford, Fl. where she spent the rest of her life in her love of gardening and raising her Thai vegetables.
Surviving Tan are her four daughters Linda (David) Yarris Tuksi Mitchell of Sanford, Fl., Lori (Eric) Boyd of Jacksonville, Fl. and Tonya Mitchell of Sanford, Fl. and twelve grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother in Thailand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one grandchild.
Interment will be at a later date in the Veterans section at the All Faiths Memorial Park, Casselberry, FL.
