Thelma Mae Mallett

Thelma M. Mallett, age 93, passed peacefully at home on November 22, 2024, in Longwood, Florida. Thelma was born February 7, 1931, in Beech, West Virginia and was raised by a large extended family. This childhood fostered a deep foundational love of family. She built upon that foundation with the love of her life, Ivan Mallett, after their marriage on Christmas Eve 1948 in Ohio.

Thelma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. She truly had servant's heart and thoroughly enjoyed her work at the American Cancer Society and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program where she was the Volunteer Coordinator. Thelma was a member of LaBelle View Church of Christ.

Thelma was known for her smile, genuine warmth, and thoughtful guidance. She enjoyed family

barbecues, socializing at the VFW, and going on Red Hat adventures. She was the first to volunteer for any new experience and her enthusiasm and unbridled joy made the experiences richer for those with her.

Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years (Ivan Mallett), her son-in-law

(John C. Costa}, her parents (Orval "Jack" Nichols and Cora Bailey Duncan), her half-sister (Freda Tucker), and her half-brother (Savannis Duncan).

Thelma is survived by her half-sister: Marlene (Dennis) Stevens; her 4 children: Barbara Costa, Larry Mallett, Pat (Frank) House, Lisa (Scott) Schaffer; her 9 grandchildren: John (Gina) Costa, Gary (Nicole) Costa, Jerry (Liz) Costa, Kelly (Mark) Craig, Nicole House, Chad House, Caitlin Schaffer, Rachel Schaffer, Nicholas Schaffer; 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

A visitation for Thelma will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 1 PM followed by her service at 2 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 994 E. Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32701

Her burial service will be Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
