Thomas Warren Dearth

Tom was born on January 8th, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio to Homer and Florence Dearth. He was the first-born son and grandson in his family and was so loved. In 1970, he married Patricia Offtermatt Dearth, his high school sweetheart, and this past June they celebrated 55 years together. Together they raised 3 children. They will share an unfillable void in their hearts.

Tom worked since age 16 but for most of his working years was self-employed.

When he first moved to Florida in 1970, he owned and operated a Chevron Service Station on the corner of Lee Road and Wymore Road for 15 years.

He owned and operated a Lawn Maintenance and Irrigation company for 15 years and worked part time for Boynton Mower till he retired.

It was throughout his working career that he developed many lifelong friends and mentors, who instilled in him his passion for boating, scuba diving, deep see fishing, landscaping, engine repair, and even dabbling in the stock market.

He was never afraid to take on something new, even something as daunting as building his own house.

Tom was a character, one of a kind. He touched everyone he met, cashiers, maintenance workers, doctors, nurses and his dialysis techs. His sense of humor, infectious laugh, and authentic personality endeared him to all. No one was a stranger to Tom.

But mostly Tom loved his wife, children, and siblings. Whether it be family gatherings for holidays or birthdays, vacations in the mountains of North Carolina, Saturday Night Pinochle games, or just sharing a word of advice while eating cookies.

We will miss him deeply,

Tom is survived by his wife, Patricia of Longwood, Florida; children, Thomas Dearth (Megan) of Oviedo, Dana Dearth (Marcie) of Lake Mary, and Katie Dearth (John Devaney) of DeBary; grandchildren, Jordyn, Kendall, Ricky, Myla, and MacKenzie; sister, Denise Baughman (Rich); brother, Richard Dearth (Donna), sister, Barb Moore (Phil), along with Pat’s sisters, Cathy, Peggy, Judi, and Susan (Bill); and 17 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews.
