Virginia L Holbrook

Virginia Loretta Holbrook, 83, of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026. Known affectionately to those she loved as “Tinker,” “Ginny,” or simply “Grandma,” Virginia was a fierce, resilient, and unforgettable woman who lived life entirely on her own terms.

Born on March 17, 1943, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Virginia moved to the Orlando area at just two years old, where she would spend the rest of her life. Growing up in a tight-knit family, her youth was filled with family and love. She worked various jobs to help support herself and her household while living with her mother and younger siblings. She had her first son at 23, Michael. She met her husband Tommie two years later, they were married and had her second son David. She worked as a school lunch lady at Hiawassee Elementary, to spend as much time with her sons as possible and dedicated herself to that job until her retirement.

Virginia wasn't one for pretense or chasing societal standards; she was unapologetically herself. She loved being the center of attention, always had her hair perfectly done, and could charm anyone with a quick joke. The world is undeniably a bit dimmer without her fire in it.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ruby Bagwell; her siblings, Hazel Woods, and Donnie Bagwell; her husband, Tom Holbrook; and her cherished sons, Michael Andrews and David Holbrook.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength in her surviving siblings Earl Andrews, Ronnie Andrews (Laurice), Jackie Moorse, Herbie Hussey (Patty), Kathy Gowan (Rick), Kevin Bagwell (Nancy); daughters-in-law, Mary Holbrook, Tammie Andrews, and Stephanie Andrews; and her adored grandchildren, Lauren Williams (Gaylen), Cole Andrews, and LeeAnn Andrews, as well as her surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Virginia wanted to be remembered exactly how she was, no frills. She loved a good story, especially when she was the star of it. Please honor her memory and her wishes by bringing a personal, no-frills story to share during the service.
