William C. “Bill” Peoples, 73, of Longwood, Florida, passed away on June 5, 2026. He was born on December 24, 1952, in North Carolina, the youngest of three boys, where he grew up before going on to serve his country and leave a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Bill proudly served in the United States Navy, aboard nuclear submarines — a foundation that launched a distinguished, 40-year career in the nuclear power industry. Colleagues remembered him as one of the most innovative and dedicated professionals they had ever worked alongside. He brought integrity and excellence to everything he did, and was the kind of person you could count on completely — whether that meant mentoring those around him or dropping everything to solve a problem at a moment’s notice. He was a man of tremendous work ethic who also understood that life was meant to be enjoyed.
Beyond his career, Bill was a man of strong character, integrity, and grit — but also tremendous fun. He had a loud, booming voice and a gift for making people laugh instantly. He was known for his keen intellect, his fairness, and his genuine warmth, and he treated everyone with respect and kindness. He had a deep love for University of North Carolina sports, great music — particularly jazz and southern rock — and a passion for travel, sitting by the water listening to the waves, and taking in live music wherever he went. At home, he was happiest grilling, relaxing by the pool, and spending time with his beloved Labrador, Izzy. He had a true appreciation for a good steak, a fine glass of wine, and a cigar.
But some of his happiest moments were the simplest: time spent with his grandson, Wyatt.
Bill was a devoted and proud father above all else. As one friend remembered, “We are all better people from knowing him.” He will be remembered for the joy he brought to everyone’s lives.
He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Peoples, and his grandson, Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ted Peoples.
