

Alexis "Lexi" Morris, 15, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009.Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Mark Rector of Church Alive officiating. Lexi was born Oct. 6, 1994, in San Antonio. She was an eighth-grader at River Road Middle School, where she was president of the National Junior Honor Society. She was an avid reader who loved to write stories; she also enjoyed painting, making jewelry and playing volleyball. Lexi volunteered for the homeless shelter and the Eveline Rivers Christmas Program and coat drive. Lexi was extremely outgoing and had tons of friends. She had dreams of going to University of Texas at Austin to be a heart surgeon. She was a Longhorn fan through and through. Lexi loved her family, younger cousins and brothers. She had a countless number of close friends, and she had some extraordinary friends, Linda Farrow, Greg Osborne, Wendy Staetz and Brenda Qualls, who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Morris; her paternal grandfather, Verne Morris; her paternal grandmother, Evelyn Kerwald; her maternal grandmother, Mary Wheeler; her maternal great-grandmothers, Mary Dunlap and Juanita Gomez; and her maternal great-grandfather, Maximino Gomez.Survivors include her parents, Tommy and Allison McFarlin of Amarillo; two brothers, Tommy Dale McFarlin II and Cordell Lee McFarlin, both of Amarillo; her grandparents, Joe and Alice Castro of San Antonio and Bob Dunlap of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; her maternal grandfather, Johnie Dunlap of Portia, Ark.; four uncles; three aunts; numerous great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins; and many, many friends The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home
