

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Victor Miller of Paramount Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St.
Anne was born March 13, 1919, in Shelby County to Roy and Ruby Leverett. She married George Washington Short on Dec. 12, 1939, in Amarillo and was happily married until he preceded her in death in February 1974.
Anne received an associate degree in business administration from Amarillo College in 1939 and graduated from Texas A&M in 1947 with an associate degree in landscape architecture. She retired as an administrative assistant for Texas Tech Health Science Center. She was a docent at the Amarillo Art Center, Sweet Adelines and a charter member of Panhandle Piddlers Club. She was a longtime member of Paramount Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Sharon Short Robertson and Suzi Short McCarty; and a brother, Joseph Leverett.
Survivors include a son, J. Charles "Chuck" Short and wife Kela of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Andy McCarty, Scott McCarty, Amy McCarty Allen, Sherry McCarty Brading, Thaddeus McCarty, Ana Short Hoeksema and Abi Short Cowles; many great-grandchildren; a niece, Linda Leverett Acker; and a nephew, Barry Joe Leverett.
The family suggests memorials be to The Floy Franks Scholarship fund at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79109
