Archie Mitchell, 84 of Amarillo passed away on September 22, 2012. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Llano Cemetery with Mr. Kerry Arnold officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Archie was born February 12, 1928 in Bastrop County to William Henry and Willie Mae Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was self employed as a mechanic for many years in both Texas and Arizona. He retired after his health failed and moved back to Texas. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was discharged honorably in 1947. Archie was preceded in death by his wife Rose Mitchell; his parents; three brothers, Henry, Grant and John Mitchell; also by three sisters, Bertha Jones, Clara Halverd and Alma Young. Archie is survived by his two sisters, Lula Hunter and husband Johnny of Tucson, Arizona and Laura Marshall and husband Leslie of Austin; also by his brother, Bennie Mitchell and wife Erma of Amarillo.
