Arlin is remembered as a man of consistency and longevity, namely serving as a Minister of the Jehovah Witness community for over 45 years, volunteering with multiple organizations to visit those in nursing homes and retirement communities for over 22 years and only working 2 jobs in his over six decades of adulthood.
When Arlin wasn’t volunteering his time, you could find him meeting with fellow members of the Antique Truck Club – High Plains Chapter once a week discussing their mutual passion for antique trucks. Arlin enjoyed restoring ‘40s - ‘50s models trucks, even winning multiple awards including the ‘Entry of the Year’ award for his ’47 Dodge.
Arlin worked on many roads in the Amarillo area and its surrounding rural towns including building much of Interstate 40 and other major roads that we all enjoy traveling on today. Many today take for granted the roads that take us anywhere we want to go but let’s take a moment in appreciating the decades of service Arlin gave to give us this luxury we so greatly enjoy. Arlin’s daughters Debbie and Beckie remember their father rescuing many small animals during his time working on roads. Whether it be saving small ducks from walking across the hot tar or saving other small ducks from the harsh winters where they wouldn’t survive otherwise, Arlin always had a passion for taking care of them. Arlin was a kind and gentle soul and will be truly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Arlin is preceded in death by his wife Phoebe and parents Lonnie and Nellie Seymour.
Left on this earth to carry on his legacy is his daughter Debbie and husband John Gamboa and Beckie and husband Brian Adams.
A memorial service for Arlin will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1518 E Central Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79108 with Justin Hatley officiating.
