

Barbara Lee Parker, 70, of Amarillo, Texas passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022. Barbara was born in Paducah, Texas on March 8, 1951 to Hoyt and Freddie Russell. Barbara graduated from Paducah High School Class of 1969. She attended Texas Tech University 1969-1971, graduated from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in 1973, Bachelors in Nursing from West Texas State University in 1975 and Masters of Science in Nursing from West Texas State University in 1980.
Barbara worked at a variety of healthcare settings including Northwest Texas Hospital (Med-surg RN team leader), Critical Care RN Team Leader and Clinical Instructor at High Plains Baptist Hospital, Associate and Assistant Professor at Amarillo College ADN Program, Staff Nurse at St Anthony Hospital and High Plains Baptist Hospital, Director of Clinical Service at Kimberly Quality Care, Area Director and Education Specialist at Quality Lifestyles, Case Manager at VA Medical Center.
Barbara was a strong and independent woman who touched many hearts. She loved her friends and family fiercely and expected nothing but the best for and from them. She had an undeniable love for music, and could be seen two-stepping every chance she had!
Barbara is preceded in death by her mother Freddie Lee Russell (Allen).
Barbara is survived by her father Hoyt Russell of Canton/Paducah, TX, a set of twins - Michelle Bowling (married to Nick) of Amarillo, TX. and Michael Parker (married to Kendra) of Amarillo, TX. 4 grandchildren Brady Lee, Brock Michael, Bryer Hoyt, and Roslyn Hope, two sisters, Candy (married to Marvin Powe) of Paducah, TX and Jenneane (married to Pat Puckett) of Canton, TX, brother-in-law Jerry Parker (married to Janice) of Amarillo, TX, and several nieces and nephews including Landon (Janey) Powe of Idalou, TX, Mandie (Tim) Adams of Canton, TX, Trevor (Kate) Powe of Stephenville, TX, Adam (Mandy) Piper of Athens, TX, and several extended family members.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 5th at 2 PM in Amarillo, Texas at Crossroads Country Church with Brother Bob Miller officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell Ave.
