Belanie (Herring) Kennedy, 61, of Amarillo passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 4 pm to 6 pm in the Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell. Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 18, 2018, at 10 am in the Pioneer Chapel.

Belanie was born on August 28,1956 in Amarillo, TX to Roland and Fern Herring-Yell. She was a 1974 graduate of Caprock High School and in 1997, she achieved a degree in accounting from West Texas A & M University. Shortly after, she obtained her CPA Certification and would go on to server as CPA for several small companies throughout the years, most recently the Summit Trucking Group. She could always be found cheering in the stands or sidelines (sometimes correcting referees and officials) for any sporting event her boys, granddaughter, nieces and nephews; and any athletic event involving her beloved WTAMU Buffs were involved in.

Belanie was preceded in death by her son Bryan Kennedy, her parents, and her sister Rolene Arkon. Those left to cherish her memories are her son Dr. Chad Kennedy and wife Kara of Amarillo, granddaughter Pate of Amarillo; her sister Nina Lavake and husband John of Stratford; her brother Tommy Herring of Amarillo; parents Lewis and Kara Jena Yell; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many special friends and close coworkers. The family would like to extend a special thank you the nurses and staff of Moore County Hospice and Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in honor of Belanie B. Kennedy to the West Texas A & M Scholarship Athlete Fund at http://mercury.wtamu.edu/athletics-donations, or WT Athletics WTBOX 60049 Canyon, TX. 79016

Belanie you will be missed. You were my work rock. Countless memories of early morning planning. Always calling each other when we needed to bounce our ideas and solutions. I got to know Belanie over the phone. We quickly realized that we had formed a bond. We started sharing bits and pieces of our personal selves. I miss your voice on the other end of that phone.

RIP, Belanie Kennedy

I have never met anyone in my life that showed as much strength, bravery, love, and determination as Belanie did. I will never forget our lunches and laughs together at work. I will also never forget the moments we shared of heartache and sorrow when life was throwing some pretty hard punches. There just really wasn't anyone in this world like Belanie. You could literally see the love and pride shining through her face when she talked about her family. I loved and admired Belanie and feel comforted knowing she is in Heaven with our good Lord - I am sure she is giving everyone up there a good run for their money :) What a beautiful angel we have all gained.

Much love to Belanie's family. We are all praying for peace and healing for each of you while you honor Belanie's life. I am attaching one of my favorite pictures of Belanie that I took of her at work.
