Benito Lucero was born in Chaperito, New Mexico to Ezequiel and Marcella Lucero on November 4, 1943. He married the love of his life Irma Pena on December 25, 1962 and they recently celebrated 57 years of marriage.

He was a machinist for over 25 years. His passion was music and he will be remembered for his gift of playing the guitar, singing and composing his own songs. He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews with all of his heart. He will be remembered for his faith, generosity and his big heart. He had compassion for the less fortunate and often gave his own personal belongings to the least of these. He was also known for saying “I Love You More” and “Do You Believe?”

Benito was a Godly man who shared his love for the Lord and the gospel with everyone that he met. He was passionate about people and loved to entertain them with his gift of music.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Heritage Rehabilitation, Northwest Texas Healthcare ICU, Landmark of Amarillo and Kindred Hospice for their incredible care provided to Benito and the entire family. The family appreciates all of the prayers, love and support extended by family and friends to us during this difficult time. We know that Benito is with his heavenly Father dancing and rejoicing in his eternal home.

Those left to his memories are his beloved wife Irma Lucero, his six children: Esmeralda Patterson and husband James, Pastor Jessie Lucero and wife Lupe, Helen Burton and husband Ray, Bennie Jr Lucero and wife Maria, Merlinda Williamson and husband Kenny and Maira Cervantes. Benito has 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Benito will always be remembered by his extended family and dear friends.

Benito was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
