Bertha Marie McMurray

Bertha Marie McMurray, 83, of Amarillo passed away on October 20, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Funeral Services will be held at 10am in the Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 14200 Interstate 27 with Pastor Jerry Davey presiding.

Bertha was born on December 20, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Helen Marie Gann. After her father’s untimely death, her mother married Herman Mulinax who would raise her as his own. The family moved from Texas to Kansas before finally settling in Amarillo. She married Leland McMurray on June 10, 1952, and together they raised three daughters.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leland; grandson Michael Shawn Phillips in 1997; sisters Marion Sullivan and Sandy Winson; and brother Jim Hatch. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Roxanne Bourne and Husband Ray of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lisa Harrison and husband Randy of Amarillo, and Melinda McLeland of Amarillo; two stepsons Lee of Amarillo and Ron of Oklahoma City; two granddaughters Tiffany Banigo and husband Segun , and Artesia Girgis and husband Silas; great grandchildren Savannah Phillips, Ayden Girgis, Andrew Girgis, Sauyer Girgis, and Kymani Banigo; niece Elana Gruhlkey and children Claire, Asher, and Dani; and a very dear close friend Daniel Boone.

Nana it's been a little over 2 months since you left and I miss you dearly! I can't even begin to explain the void Kymani & I feel. I love you more than I could ever express, and Im so happy that you got to see Kymani. Yalls bond was undeniable and "Nana" was his first word. You did more for me throughout my life than anyone and I could never Thank You enough! I will miss and love you always ! Tell Papa I love and miss him always too!
