Betsy Swenson,96 of Amarillo died July 5, 2018. Betsy was born on March 28, 1925 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Albert and Frances Hayward. She was raised and lived in the Fred Harvey House in Las Vegas, New Mexico until the age of 13 before moving to Amarillo. Betsy graduated from Amarillo High School. She married H.B. Swenson on November 23, 1945, he preceded her in death in 1988. Her husband was in the US Air Force and they lived in several places before settling in Amarillo where they raised their three children. Betsy was a member of the P.E.O. for over 70 years and she was the past president of the local chapter, the C.M. Chapter. She enjoyed traveling, spending time in the mountains and most of all spending time with her grandkids. She was also preceded in death by a brother Ted Hayward.
Betsy is survived by three sons, Harvey Swenson and family, Ted Swenson and family and Chris Swenson and family. Seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
