Betty Jo was born and lived in Amarillo for 80 of her 87 years. She was married to the love of her life, Bob, for 53 years, and was his caregiver for 35 years after he became disabled. She loved to spend time with her family, friends and spoiled her grandchildren every chance she got. She never knew a stranger. She could spend hours talking, telling stories and laughing with friends and family. Hospitality was one of her special gifts. She opened her home to many families, missionaries, pastors and groups for days at a time, and loved having people for meals in her home.
She loved God with all her heart and was a strong supporter of her church and missionaries. She taught children for many years in Sunday School and children’s church, many of whom remember with affection her flannel graph stories and chalk talks.
Her favorite hobbies were painting, gardening, and Christmas lights. She started decorating in October and often left the Christmas lights up until the end of January or February. She delighted in saying that her house was the brightest one in the neighborhood.
She also was very proud of her favorite daughter, Ranaye.!!!! Oops we meant Regina.
Betty Jo was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Lobdell, son Jim Holland, and grandson David Mejia, Grandson.
Those left to cherish her memories are Sons Johnny Holland and Kenneth Holland, daughters Regina Mejia and Ranaye Verdu, sister Janette Coller; 15 Grandchildren, and 18 Great-Grandchildren.

Betty has been a part of our family all my life! She introduced my
Mom and Dad .
I remember her teaching us Sunday School. I loved when she did the flannel graphs. She made those little paper people come to life for a four year old(56 years ago!). When I married my Mom had Betty paint me the Lord's supper. It hangs above my table today. (That was 43 years ago). On my first anniversary, she painted me a woodland trail with a Brook and a deer standing in the trail (42 years ago )
Every other year Betty and Bob came to Mom and Dad for a visit. After Bob went home to the Lord , the visits came to a stop. Then Mom also went home . Betty called every night to make sure Dad was doing okay.
We miss her so very much, yet rejoice in her homecoming . Our prayers are with her family at this time .

So many things to say about Betty was a beautiful person. I love to hear her stories she was very active with everything we did at the church. I loved being around because there’s so many things that she could teach you. It’s always hard to say goodbye to someone you love and cared. Miss Betty always cared about other people I love to see her in a mission trips. I will never forget the one where she went to Nicaragua and she got to ride that motorcycle even if as passenger.
You will be greatly missed but now you join everyone left to go to Heaven. I love you Ms. Betty Jo.
