The family will receive guests on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm in the Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Graveside services will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 2pm in the Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Linvell Tisdell presiding.
Billy was born on March 12, 1933 in Sonora, Texas to William Mack and Cloma(Ethridge) McDonough. As a child, he would relocate to Brownwood, Texas where he would complete his schooling, graduating from Brownwood High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Air Traffic Control. On June 6th, 1955 he married Jackie JoAnn Jarnigan and together they shared 64 years of marriage. By trade, Billy was a knife sharpener for the Iowa Beef Processors with whom he retired from. He and Jackie were long time members of the Bykota Baptist Church.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bobbie Baker; and son in law Larry Stover. Billy’s memories will be cherished by his beloved Jackie, four children, Connie Lynn Stover of Amarillo, Donna Lynn Armstrong and husband Ricky of Canyon , Robert Paul McDonough of Amarillo, and Billy Joe McDonough Jr and wife Vonnie of Joplin, Missouri; six grand kids, Chris Johnathan, Jennifer, Zack, Megan, and Sara Jo. Billy also leaves behind nine great grand kids, Ryan, Nathan, Hannah, Addison, Bailey, Ella, Krew, and Beckett; one great-great grand kid Aaron and a niece, Kathy Baker of Ft. Worth.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in honor of Billy to the Veteran’s Alzheimer’s Association, or BSA Hospice Care of the Southwest.
