Billy married Dorothy Loverne Baker on June 11, 1949 in Turkey, Texas. They moved from Turkey to Oklahoma, then to Amarillo in 1952. He worked for Willborn Brothers, City Machine and Welding, and Western Sales and testing. In 1968 Billy took his finely honed skills as a master machinist and welder and, along with Dorothy, starting B&C Machine and Welding. They retired in 1991 after twenty-three years. Billy loved the Lord and was a founding member of Fairlane Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years.
A car and motorcycle enthusiast, Billy liked to make anything that went fast, go faster. Dorothy kept up with him until January 2013 when she preceded him in death. For over four decades Billy enjoyed his Friday coffee group; I.J. Tow; Frank Tow; Mike Tow; Bob green; Ronnie Nelson; and Alvin Sharp. Thanks, buddies. Billy’s family wants to thank Brookdale Medi Park West, BSA Emergency room, BSA Hospice of the Southwest and our special friends, Bill and Terry Bigham.
Billy is survived by two daughters Judy Martin and husband Paul of Amarillo; Edie Gibson and husband Roy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four granddaughters; Michelle Montague of Hermann, Missouri; Raquel Gibson-Ford of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Jennifer Reid of Woodland Park, Colorado and Fanchon Gibson-Cimino of Henderson, Colorado, seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
