Mrs. Vandiver was born on November 8, 1920 in Kusa, Oklahoma to Oval Melvin and Edna Pearl Salmon. She worked for Vance Hall Sporting Goods as an engraver for many years and was a beloved homemaker, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. She lived in Amarillo, Texas for many years, when her husband of 65 years passed away she moved to Matador, Texas to be closer to her son. She was a member of the Matador Baptist Church and she loved her lord and her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John M. Vandiver, a son, John Michael Vandiver, and five sisters.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Vandiver of Matador, Texas; Four Grandchildren, Wade Vandiver and wife Lorye of San Antonio, Texas, April Dawn Perkins and husband Ralph of Lorton, Virginia, Scott Vandiver, and Dustin Vandiver; Great-grandchildren, Kelen Perkins, Ethan Cook, Therrin Vandiver, Willow Vandiver and Gabriel Vandiver. Also a special friend Wanda Clemmons of Bella Vista, Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
