On June 28, 2026, Carol Jones was called Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While her family grieves the loss of an extraordinary woman, they find comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with her loved ones, and welcomed into the joy of Heaven.
Carol was born on September 14, 1942, in Clarendon, Texas, to Leroy Johnson and Edna Bernice Bird. She was one of five children and grew up alongside her siblings, Mary Katherine Ford, Don Johnson, Shirley McKinney, and Jerry Johnson. On April 4, 1959, Carol married the love of her life, Troy Jones. Together they built a beautiful life centered on the people they loved most. Their home became the heart of the family, a place where holidays were celebrated, stories were shared, laughter filled every room, and everyone always knew they were welcome. Together they raised three sons, Gary Jones, Charles Jones, and Grady Jones, who remained the pride of her life. Family was Carol's greatest blessing and life's purpose. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished great-grandmother, and treasured friend. She is survived by her sons, Gary Jones and Charles Jones; her grandchildren, Caleb Jones and Kelsey Garcia and her husband, Diego Garcia; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Karmah Jones, Matthew Garcia, Madeline Garcia, and Remi Jones, who will soon arrive and grow up hearing stories of the remarkable woman who already loved her so deeply. Carol also leaves behind Karissa Gouveia, Casz, Koe, and Kimber, who were family in every way that truly mattered and held a special place in her heart. Being "Nani" was one of Carol's greatest joys. Nothing made her happier than having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren together, especially for sleepovers at Nani's house. Those special nights were filled with laughter, little footsteps, card games, hugs, and memories that will be treasured forever. They were the light of her life, and her love for each of them knew no bounds.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Troy Jones; her son, Grady Jones; her parents, Leroy Johnson and Edna Bernice Bird; and was the last of her siblings to be called Home.
To know Carol was to know unconditional love. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel like family. She will forever be remembered for her warm hugs, wet kisses, gentle smile, and the kindness she so freely gave. Carol found joy in life's simple pleasures- taking scenic drives, playing card games, trying her luck at the casino, listening to music, and spending time with the people she loved most. She saw the best in everyone, laughed often, gave generously, and loved with her whole heart. Her home, and her heart, were always open. If love alone could have kept her here, she would have lived forever. Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing she is whole again, resting peacefully in the presence of Jesus. Her legacy is not measured by years, but by the love she poured into her family, the lives she touched, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her hugs will be missed, her laughter remembered, and her love carried forward by every person blessed to know her. The world is a little less bright without her in it, but Heaven is surely brighter because she is home. Until we meet again, she will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to More Church in Amarillo, Texas, Carol's beloved second home, in honor of her life, her faith, and the love she so generously shared with others.
