Carolyn was born on July 12, 1938, in Plainview, Texas, to William Arthur Bowley and Lois Hunt Bowley. She devoted her life to her faith, her family, and serving others. She spent many joyful years raising her children and worked faithfully as a Unit Clerk at Baptist St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo, where she cared for patients and supported her coworkers with kindness and compassion. Carolyn will be remembered most for her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Reading her Bible, spending time in prayer, and praising the Lord were the foundation of her daily life. She lovingly prayed for her children, grandchildren, and all those she held dear. She also had a special gift for making family feel welcome, treating her in-laws as if they were her own. She found joy in gardening and in the many collections she carefully gathered over the years, including Christmas village houses, latch-hook rugs, homemade chocolates and candy, pottery, fine china, angels, and her beloved Shih Tzu dogs. These treasured hobbies reflected her creativity, warmth, and appreciation for life's simple blessings.
Carolyn is survived by her sons, Merlin Dale Harkey and Cecil Wayne Harkey; her daughter, Gail "Denise" Brandt; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her brothers, Horace Bowley and David Arthur "Bo" Bowley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Leola Fansler, Robert Bowley, W.L. "Bill" Bowley, and Glenda Nopah; Robert Lee Mackey Sr.; her grandparents; and her nephew, Timothy.
Carolyn's family finds comfort in knowing that she has gone home to be with her Savior, whom she faithfully loved and served throughout her life. Her legacy of faith, love, prayer, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
