Catherine M. Varga

Catherine Marie Varga, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 18, 2025. Catherine was born in Amarillo to Richard and Doris Larson. A proud graduate of Amarillo High School, she spent her life in the community she loved. Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never hesitated to help in any way she could.

She was a loving, kind-hearted woman, full of surprises — you never quite knew what she would say next, and she kept everyone on their toes. Catherine enjoyed reading, playing cards, sewing quilts and spending time with those she loved. Throughout her life, she worked at several local businesses, including Walmart, United Supermarkets, Owens Corning, and Levi Strauss.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Doris Larson.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Varga; her children, Debora Ham, Barbara Ritter and husband Tony, Henry Pachta II and wife Kari, and Dale Pachta II; 2 stepsons Michael Varga and Paul Varga; seven siblings; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with burial to follow.

Catherine’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
