Charles Douglas "Doug" Brooks

Charles Douglas “Doug” Brooks passed away April 9, 2019. He was born April 19, 1929 in Evant, Texas to Wilbur and Era Brooks. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines Corp. He married the love of his life Merlene White on September 15, 1947, they spent 72 years loving and caring for each other. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and spending time outside. In his older years he enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers. He was a wonderful, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather who never missed sporting events that his great grandsons participated in. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 37 years of service. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church for 47 years. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and two infant sons Larry and Danny Brooks.

He is survived by his loving wife Merlene; his children Mark Brooks and wife Jane; Jana Miller and husband James. Four brothers Delbert Brooks and wife Joy; Bill Brooks and wife Sybil; Don Brooks and wife Nancy; and Dale Brooks and wife Betty. Granddaughters Jill Urioste and husband Andrew and Jaden Miller. Great grandsons Bladen, Beaux, Brock and Bryson Urioste, along with many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
