Red coached basketball at Amarillo College from September 1956 until his retirement on June 30, 1991.
Red was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church. Red served his country, his family, and the community. Red never hesitated to lend a helping hand to others. Heaven truly gained another Angel. Red’s advice, jokes and stories will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Red was preceded in death by the love of his life Betty Myers. They were married 61 years.
He also was preceded in death by a son, Gary Myers; three sisters, June Mills, Maxine Helfer and baby girl Myers.
Survivors include a sister, Martha Lotspeich of Floydada; four nephews, Steve Helfer of Park Hill, Okla., Randy Helfer of Edmond, Okla., Mark Lotspeich of Gunter and Matt Lotspeich of Tulsa, Okla.; and a niece, Pam Cantrell of Lubbock.
The Myers family would like to thank all of Red’s wonderful neighbors, friends and church family for all the care that they provided to Red in the last months.
The family suggest memorials be to Trinity Baptist Church or Amarillo College Red and Gary Myers scholarship fund.
