

Clarence Coy Denton was born May 20, 1927 near Memphis, Texas to Stephen and Ada Denton. He graduated from Lakeview High School and attended West Texas State College. He married the love of his life Beverly Joy Davis on June 11, 1950, and together they had three sons. He began his career with Southwestern Public Service in 1952 in Amarillo and worked over 35 years with the company.
He loved coaching all sports and was one of the first coaches in the Kids Inc. program. He coached, refereed, umpired, and helped organize sports leagues in Amarillo, Plainview, and Floydada for over 40 years. He was a member of the Optimist Rotary, and the Lions Clubs.
He served as trustee of Wayland Baptist University and was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church. After retirement, he and Joy moved back to Amarillo and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Kyle Denton.
He is survived by his wife Joy; brother Charles; two sons Kenneth and wife Ronda; Todd and wife D’Aun; daughter in law Janis. Seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
