His siblings were Henry Lee, Dean, Fred, Eugene and Myrdell.
When he was able, he joined the U.S. Marines and served at the time of the Korean Conflict.
After his service, he met and married his first wife, Cora, and had a daughter, Gina. After some time they divorced.
On June 6th, 1963, he married Jane Kathryn Schramm. With these nuptials he inherited Jane's children, Danny, Cheryl, Karen and Garre Striley. In 1964 they had a son, Joel Johnson.
Pete and Jane attended San Jacinto Methodist Church in Amarillo for more than 50 years.
Through his life he held many jobs…He worked as a long-haul driver for Red Ball Motor Freight, Western Merchandisers, and Hastings. He was a carpenter, builder, welder, salesman, and craftsman. A true Jack of all trades.He built his house in Tascosa Hills and his lake cabin in Eufala, Oklahoma. He owned and operated custom cabinet shops with his sons out of his garage.
He was preceded in death by all his siblings, his step son, Garre, his grandson, Adam, a son-in-law, Lawrence, a great-grandson, Weylund, his son, Joel and his wife, Jane.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Braxton Johnson, Charity Johnson, Natasha Rees and Valerie Jobe, daughter Gina, step children Danny, Cheryl, Karen, and honorary daughter Janelle.
A visitation for Pete will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 S. Bell, Texas 79109. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 S. Bell, Texas 79109 with interment to follow in Dreamland Cemetery, Canyon, Texas
