Cynthia Ann Puckett

Cynthia was born on November 24, 1952, in Houston, Texas. She grew up in Houston, and spent much of her childhood painting, playing piano, dancing, and reading. She also completed four years of JROTC at Jesse Jones High School, winning numerous awards. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel F. Puckett and Willie Mae Puckett, husband Donald L. Moore, and sister Brenda J. Fox. Cynthia is survived by her daughter Elizabeth C. Cervantes and her husband Joseph; her two grandchildren Xavier L. Gutierrez and Vanessa A. Gonzales; her brother Jeffery F. Puckett; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving friends.

After graduating from Jesse Jones High School in 1971, Cynthia worked as a secretary for multiple insurance agents from 1975 to 1986. During this time, she attended multiple higher education institutions, including Del Mar Junior College, San Jacinto College, and Richmond College before attending and graduating Summa Cum Laude from Texas Women’s University with a Bachelors of Science in History with a Minor in Journalism in 1988. After graduating, she worked at Amarillo Globe News as a reporter and journalist until October 1996. It was at Amarillo Globe News where she met her true love, Donald Lee Moore. They married on January 21, 1994, and spent the following eighteen years traveling and camping across the country and using their H.A.M radios. Cynthia was a devout mother and grandmother, who rarely missed an event, whether it be orchestra recitals, karate lessons, or graduations. Her daughter and grandchildren always knew she was one phone call away.

Those who knew Cynthia will remember her quick wit, her extreme intelligence, and her unwavering faith. She was a devout member of the Greek Orthodox Church, where she was known as ‘Anna’ and ‘Yia Yia’. She was known to love opera, musicals, and dancing, especially Square Dancing and Clogging
