

Darrell J. Donohue 85, of Dalhart, Texas passed away in his sleep on July 25, 2017. He was born on August 24 1931 in Spring Glen, Utah. He attended Spring Glen School until 9th grade then went to Price Utah to Carbon High School and was an Eagle Scout. He met the love of his life Doreen Roundy when she was 16 and DJ was 17 and they were married on August 14, 1954 and then later married at the Manti Utah Temple for 63 years.
He served two years in the United States Army overseas in Germany and they called him “Eagle Eye” for his shooting abilities. He worked at the Highway Department for four years after graduating and then went to work at the Carbon Fuel Coal Mine; On October 12, 1965 he lost the use of his right arm while working on the belt that ran the coal crusher. Darrell then moved to Rusk, Texas and taught the Criminally Insane shop for 2 years at Rusk State Hospital before moving to Hartley Texas to be the Shop Teacher, his greatest joy was teaching the students at Hartley. The last 3 years of his 20 year career he was a yearbook advisor.
He was preceded in death by his parents Homer D Donohue and Ethel Rice Donohue; 2 sisters Mae, Bertie Lou; 3 brothers Keith Homer, Wade and his sons Phillip J. Donohue and Stephen.
Survivors include his beloved wife Doreen and his daughter Kerry Miller and husband Richard.
The family wishes no visitors at this time and also in lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Amarillo Medical Center League House 7000 W Amarillo Blvd.
